A Look at the Living Room

Last night as I was sitting in my living room catching up on some of my favorite rags, it occurred to me that other than slapping a few pics up on my House Tour page I've never really shared many of the rooms in the house.  The living room is bright and sunny and frou-frou-ish and the sole room used primarily by me!  Seriously, the littles only tear through here on their way to somewhere else and Honey doesn't linger long in a room without a tele.  So, it's my quiet little book reading, wine drinking, girlfriend hanging happy space.

Here's how the room looked before...

And here's the after - after paint, floors and furniture:

My bridal portrait (dubbed "Mommy's princess picture" by the PCP), taken in Forsyth Park hangs over the settee. 

Mother made all of the throw pillows in the room.  Even the gorg organza and silk rosette.

The little's homecoming gowns hang in shadow boxes over the antique desk.

The coffee table houses treasured books, nests with found egg shells and a found cluster of shells from the coast of Savannah.

Two luxuriously comfortable chairs complete the seating area and my very favorite side table of all time showcases my now retired collection of replicas of Savannah's most historic homes, including the Olde Pink House where we celebrated after our engagement and the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist where we said our "I do's."

A signed print from my favorite coastal artist and one-time Savannahian Ray Ellis hangs over the chairs.

I literally squealed with delight when our armoire and two bookshelves from our last house fit perfectly between the two existing built-ins.

 

The armoire doors open to reveal a little bar.  When we moved we used every last lick of furniture, with many pieces finding a home in a completely different room with a completely new purpose.

The mirror from our old powder room hangs inside, and Honey installed a rope light under the top lip for ambiance in the evening.

The bookshelves showcase silver framed family memories and other collected and consequential accessories.  I flipped the dust jackets on the books inside out so that they would be all white, making for a cohesive look and nice contrast against the dark wood.

From my grandmother's name plate to my grandfather's old movie reel to the feathered balls that graced the dessert table at my very first baby shower, nothing in this room is insignificant to me.  And I just adore that!
