Cheap and Frugal Christmas Gifts
The arrival of the Christmas season can be one of the merriest times of the year, but if you are not careful it can also be one of the most expensive. To help keep your budget in check, I put together a list of 10 cheap and frugal Christmas gift ideas.
Baked Goods. A box of homemade cookies or a loaf of your favorite bread is the easiest way to please any gift recipient.
Jams, Jellies, Fruits and Vegetables. If you have a favorite family recipe and knack for canning, let your friends and family experience the joy.
Shabby Chic Picture Frames. Dress up picture frames from the dollar store with some cute fabric and satin ribbon to make these shabby chic frames. It makes a great accessory for any interior wall.
Tin of Holiday/Party Cards. Take a dollar store Christmas tin and add some blank holiday/event cards (birthday, Christmas, thank you, etc...). It makes a great gift for someone who still likes to pen wishes to that special someone. They will always have a stationary card on hand.
Set of cocktail napkins.Take those sewing skills to the machine and whip up a set of holiday cloth cocktail napkins. Add an extra pizzaz by sewing rick rack around the edges.
Scarf, hat, and gloves. A great gift to help someone stay warm during the cold months. Solid colors work best to compliment any outfit.
Recipe box. My aunts are always asking around for a recipe that has been passed down in the family. Consider putting together a recipe box or self-printed book of all those great family recipes passed down through the generations.
Movie Theme. Put a gift box together filled with popcorn, some candy, a 2-litter of soda and a DVD. This makes a great family gift.
Book of Coupons. Get crafty on the computer or with some paper and glue. Put a book of coupons together offering your services or time spent together. Things like washing dishes, offering to babysit, or go out on a date are good tasks to help you get started.
Special box of Sweet Treats. Treat that special someone to a box of their favorite candies or chocolates. Favorite nostalgia candies make for a great treat. Sweets like Mary Janes, Nesco wafers, and Chick-O-Sticks work great. Gift wrap it in a Christmas tin found at the dollar store.
