we ate corn, of course

We’ve been in Iowa for much of the past week. My mother-in-law lives in the middle of a soybean field this year (usually it’s corn). Peace and quiet rule the day and we made our own fun without a swimming pool or internet connection behind her house where we parked our rental RV.

We cooked some…

Played some games…

Kept cool with her garden hose…

And tried to take pictures of children in mid-air.

The weather was sultry and sometimes stormy, but we stayed cozy (sweaty) in a camper. The boys loved the adventure and having their “neighbor” (Grandma) over for coffee in the morning. Cousins, aunts and uncles visited every day and we ate all the bags of snacks I packed. Mr. G discovered he loves Tahitian Treat soda and broke his first wiffle ball. Mr. B and Mr. T learned how to play Shut The Box and War with their favorite cousin. I read an Elvis biography, listened to the cicadas and swatted at flies, which are abundant in Iowa the way mosquitoes are in Wisconsin, but not as awful since they don’t bite.

I'm convinced that owning a travel trailer would be pretty darn awesome.
