I bet tonight's ballgame gets cancelled...

it's hard to see the baseline under four inches of fluff.

Yesterday I wore flip flops in defiance of a rainy, blustery day. The winter gear was washed, sorted and packed away. We had a mad scramble to find mittens and winter jackets and boots this morning.

The landscaper called at 7:00 to reschedule my mulch delivery. I rearranged my plans to divide daisies and hostas.

Midwesterners have good reason for their reputation as stoic, undemonstrative people. We're weather-beaten, accustomed to expecting the worst, prepared for every instance (except for earthquakes, we don't get many of those). I'm going out on a limb here and speculating that this might also help explain alcohol consumption in Wisconsin.

A favorite song by fellow Badgers Lou and Peter Berryman sums it up so well:
All keeps well at thirty degrees
Snow and beer and cheese.

All of these photos were taken before 7:00 outside of Green Girl's house today, April 8, 2010.
