5 facts about last night

1.  I walked into the Bonfyre Grille last night and told the hostess, "I'm a Derfwad."  She looked at me in confusion so I added clarification, "From Derfwad Manor?  Mrs. G?  The Women's Colony?"  Still no dice.  I decided to walk through the restaurant and find my fellow Derfs on my own and you know what?  It took me about 2 seconds to spot them and get myself in a good clutch hold with Mrs. G (and knock over her martini).

2.  Mrs. G's a good hugger.  And Mrs. G's head is actually normal-sized, her hair is FINE and she has the kindest eyes.  Yes, her bosom is considerable when compared to my own Hobbit-sized rack. Her shoes were not mannish.  Yes, she's really as brilliant, funny, kind and genuine in person as she is online.

3.  Us Wisconsin Derfs are definitely of a type--we know each other--from "brandy old fashion" to "squeaky cheese." And to the ears of Mrs. G we have an accent, too.  Who knew?

4.  Four hours in the car for 3 hours with these women was a damn good investment of my evening.  I kind of want a sash like the Girl Scouts wear and on that sash I want badges representing various bloggers I've met IRL, Jenn in Juggling Life, San Diego Mama, Minnesota Matron, Mrs. Hall, Daisy--Mrs. G's badge would naturally be an image of Kitty Gigantica.

5.  Meeting Mrs. G, whose work I've read since she opened the front door at Derfwad Manor felt like "Ahhhh..."  Like settling on the couch with my favorite Pepto-Bismo pink Snuggie with the TV remote in hand.  Or sinking into the hammock on the front porch with a new book in hand.  It just felt comfortable and right.  It didn't really feel like meeting Mrs. G at all, it was more like a reunion since we've known each other for half a decade.  Thanks, Blogosphere, for helping me find kindred spirits online.
