best kind of evening

We had another lazy outdoors kind of evening at Chez Green Girl.  No practice, game or karate could lure us away from the bliss of an 80 degree day.  Birds chirped.  Bees buzzed industriously among the crabapple blossoms.  Aluminum bats pinged against baseballs, echoing across the field.  A motorcycle roared past.  Children shouted and laughed while they played basketball.  The sump pump gurgled and spat out water that trickled across the lawn.  The porch swing creaked gently beneath me while I inhaled the sweet scent of lilacs and apple blossoms infused with the bright top notes of freshly cut grass.  Hours later, while I lay in bed, thunder crashed across the night sky and I listened to raindrops pound against our roof.

I've got mosquito bites on my ankles, dirt beneath my fingernails and a peaceful smile on my face.  My favorite season is in full swing.

Spill it, reader.  What's springtime sound like in your neck of the woods?
