It's true, I can be smarter than the average bear. Sometimes. Take last night for example. We stayed home. I did not go learn the rest of the bo staff form. I made scalloped ham and potatoes for supper and we ate all together around the table. Then we moved to the living room where "Game Night" was declared. Rounds of Connect Four, Clue, Crazy Eights and Wii Hunting ensued. Mr. G bagged a big elk. Mr. T trounced me soundly in Crazy Eights. Mr. B took a licking from his pa in Connect Four. We ate some caramel corn and had a bunch of laughs. While the boys got ready for bed I pulled out our stash of Christmas books and we read four of them before tuck-in. It was definitely the right decision, we all feel a little more centered today.
We're heading into a busy weekend with temps dropping and I still have to string some lights outside. Our house looks as crabby as the shut-ins on the corner (who only put up yard signs promoting their favorite conservative politicians, but nary a scrap of holiday decorating). (Yes, I'm totally judging the shut-ins. They never wave--even when you pass them on foot while walking down your driveway along the back of their yard. They never smile. I brought them homemade chocolate cookies the week they moved in! They're a young couple with a baby and a little boy since moving in and you'd think they'd have some instinct for neighborliness or community, but they're definitely lacking it.) I need to channel my inner decorating diva and hop to it!
Speaking of decorators, Anne Marie has a killer eye for decorating and she's about to tackle her master bedroom.
