my tootsies don't pop

It seems that everywhere I look there are cute toes--everyone is sporting a pedicure. Embellished, shiny, bright and detailed toenails peek out of sandals and flip flops at the grocery store, ball park, farmer's market and church. I lean into a stretch at karate class and the bare feet next to my face have adorable little flowers atop coral polish. I look at my own feet--wide, ugly, plain and with bunions to boot. Ew. Ugh.
It occurs to me that I could buy a bottle of bright pink nail polish and dot it across my toenails. It would probably perk up my feet's appearance and let's face it--all the cool girls are doing it, right? I imagine how pulled together I could look with bright pink toenails, sophisticated even. Painted toenails might even excuse some of my other fashion faux pas.
Then it occurs to me that the polish will wear away and chip. And then what? Maintenance, that's what. And just like that, the fantasy dies.
