five!

One can argue he got the looks in the family.

Mr. G is FIVE today. Half a decade.
He was born FAST--in less than 2 hours. He does everything FAST. He runs through life, a hyperactive bundle of energy, dropping within minutes of head hitting pillow every night.
He's a natural athlete--throwing a ball before he turned one, hitting a ball tossed his way with incredible switch-hitting skill before he turned three. He runs with great form, jumps on one leg, swims, kicks and punches and balances. And he LOVES being active. He DEMANDS batting practice every day and will hit a baseball for hours.

Resist the power of cuteness.

He's LOUD. There is no difference in his voice if he's behind you in the Momvan or on the far end of the back yard. The kid has lung power. And he uses it often. He sings to himself, sings along with theme songs on TV, and constantly fills the air with chatter, observations and questions.
He's FUNNY. A natural show-off, camera hog, ham. Give him any attention (or not!) and he'll bombard you with demonstrations of his karate skills, his knock-knock jokes or his slapstick ability to smack himself in the head and fall over backwards.

He knows Kung Fu, Karate, Jujitsu, Judo, TaiKwanDo and a few other fierce words.

Mr. G has IMAGINATION and MOXIE. Whether blasting aliens from his upstairs hideout or going to the grocery store wearing a Flash costume accessorized with rubber rain boots and a Batman cape, Mr. G knows what he likes and brings a touch of the fantastical to everyday life. He makes the best exploding shooting sound effects with his mouth. He plays alone with his action figures and animals or with his big brothers--creating plot lines that would impress Stan Lee. He draws pictures of rainbows, Power Rangers, Spiderman, and his family--coloring for hours with markers and crayons. He takes particular pride in whipping out pages in his Preschool Readiness Workbooks and knows his phone number, alphabet, colors, shapes and the names of a hundred super heroes and bad guys.
Mr. G is confident, clever, courageous and caring--we can't picture life without him. Even on the longest day when he has run the fastest and demanded the loudest, I love tucking him in bed at night, singing him his special song and giving him a kiss and a hug.
Happy Birthday, baby. Here's to FIVE being the best year yet!
