Monday I got to have breakfast with my BFF Sarah. It was good--both the food and her company. Even though we talk almost every day on the phone, our face time was less rushed and interrupted by children clamouring for our attention. We didn't talk about anything of Major Importance. And it didn't matter.
Last night I got to have dinner with my former colleagues. Once upon a time, almost 15 years ago, there were 12 of us who got together once a month. Now, 5 remain in town, 3 remain at the school where we all once worked. These women are beautiful, brilliant and funny. I always leave their company feeling somehow improved. We hashed out Serious Cultural Issues (American Idol, John & Kate + 8, Julie & Julia). We shared inside knowledge on Local News. We exchanged books titles and decided our Summer Field Trips for this year. Time flies with them--9:00 at night when I'm home feels like bedtime. 9:00 at night when I'm out with them feels like we just got started.
Blessed and lucky indeed. Where would we be without our best girlfriends? How/where did you meet yours?
