Interiors in red, white, and blue

Monday is independence day here in the states, which usually means lots of yummy cookouts, days at the beach, and fireworks! Have an awesome holiday!

A great, fail-safe way to mix patterns is to do it monochromatically. This red bed is a beauty!

I adore this real bedroom from a Baltimore apartment.  The exposed brick and the blue go together really well. Love that dresser too!

A red bison and a blue vase on the mantel add a patriotic touch.  I also love the fireplace surround and the toadstool sculpture!

Chic interiors inspired by the one and only Audrey

We love Audrey Hepburn. She seemed so effortlessly chic and sophisticated. From Charade to My Fair Lady, her movies are style icons unto themselves. Who can forget the "little black dress" in Breakfast at Tiffany's or the black and white extravaganza of the races in My Fair Lady? Audrey Hepburn's personal style was equally feminine and elegant with modern twists. It's easy to see how these elements can inspire chic interiors.

Holly Golightly's wardrobe with its trench coats and little black dresses was classic but her apartment was anything but. Remember the bathtub loveseat?

Her Brazilian inspired dÈcor in Breakfast at Tiffanyís was eclectic to say the least, fearlessly mixing antiques, modern lighting fixtures, taxidermy and vintage pieces with classic elements like a tailored tablecloth. Very Domino magazine!

We love the bold black and white stripes and French style accessories of this small powder room. The stripes remind us of Eliza Doolittle's races outfit from My Fair Lady. What do you think?

Beyond her famous movie roles, Audrey Hepburn personified feminine, European chic. Tailored clothes, classic accessories and crisp color combinations are hallmarks of her style.

We love these rooms "inspired" by Audrey!

Mary Macdonald found inspiration in the famous Tiffany blue box. The feminine but not frou-frou furniture and black and white photos give her office a crisp, tailored feeling.

We're inspired with interior design ideas from the mix of antiques and frilly touches, like the feather covered table lamp in this garret bedroom. The dressing table and French chair add a Parisian feel to the dÈcor.

This room is tailored without being fussy, just like Audrey. The black and white picture of her in this room is a nice touch along with the delicate wall sconces.

A STUNNER of a house. Clean design without being boring

This is one of the best house tours I've ran across lately. I think the design is unique in that so much right now is french country or retro. I like the super polished look of this, but the colors and furnishings keep it cozy. What do you think?

Love the architectural elements

Designer Portfolio! The elegant and chic work of Sara Gilbane

Probably the element of Sara's work that I appreciate the most is how practical it is! It's not so matchy-matchy that you can't add your own personal possessions, and it looks comfy but also has personality.

Do you agree?

The color of that bench next to the turquoise tables is perfect. I'm a big fan on fuchsia right now

Loving the ethnic, old world character of this room

Gorgeous European Interiors

Lots of prettiness for you this morning! I've collected some images that I feel are particularly sensual. I feel like they focus a lot more on patina and texture in France - thoughts?

I love the juxtaposition of this rusic table with the elegant pink walls and gold accents

Love the composition on the mantle

I really love the chest of drawers against the wall - what a great piece for organizing

check out the wall! It looks like a detail of a Monet!

Creating a "Universe of One's Own"

I was lucky enough to stumble across the interior design of Ludwig. These rooms can't help but evoke passion and a little bit of mystery. Ludwig designs for period properties but does so in a way that could be lived in now. I really don't need to say much - you'll see for yourself. Enjoy :)
