The beautiful and interesting portfolio of Amsterdamn design firm Uxus

Can you believe that this artistic white dining room is in a 1930's hunting lodge in Connecticut?
The chairs are a nod to the residence's past.

The bedroom is also modern and white.

A beautiful, artsy loft in Amsterdam.  Notice the bedroom behind the curtains?  You can see a larger view by clicking the image.

The painted headboard is such a pretty substitution for a headboard.
The two above are from a Spanish farmhouse.  The dining chairs are actually all different, but being the same color unifies them.

I really like the pairing here of fancy wallpaper and clean-lined, rustic furniture.

The concept for the images of the townhouse (3 images above) was "Victorian Jetsons." The home is Victorian, but the couple had an extensive modern art and furniture collection.  I think Uxus did a great job at fusing the two styles.  I especially like the use of wallpaper throughout the rooms.

Courtney Love's NYC Townhouse...

Have you seen Courtney Love's NYC West Village townhouse on the Jane site?

I thought it was interesting but not my style at all. It is an insanely romantic feel to it & it's obvious she loves antique pieces. I thought the blue paint on the staircase walls was very PRETTY & calming...It's quite apparent there are no male influences in her home, it's VERY girly.

However, I found the whole vibe of the home to be a sad one... perhaps it's because I'm just not into the romantic-bohemian style..

What do you think?? you can see more of her home via Jane

A very elegant house tour for you on this Friday

I haven't posted a house tour in awhile, which I always enjoy, and I hope you do as well. This is the DC town home of furniture designer and decorator Darryl Carter, whose motto is "less is more." As opposed to accumulating "stuff" as years go by, the contents of the home have been cut in half over the last several years.

I think this kitchen is great. It has a mix of clean modern lines, but with some cozy elements, like the antique Italian étagère and the wooden bar chairs.

I don't like scrubbing tubs, so one is enough for me, but I do like the 18th century secretary in the bathroom.

I can't wait to have my own huge wooden table full of character.

I am not a fan of zebra rugs, or cow rugs personally, but I do like the long bench, the antique Carlton House desk (so unusual!), and I love the shutters throughout the home.

Elegant city houses - with a country twist

Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA - I was packing to spend this next month visiting my parents - and then there was the whole moving and unpacking process - which I"d rather not think about. Well, now that I'm here in the country - listening to the crickets and birds - mixed in with the clickity clack of my keyboard - I thought a little reminder of civilization was in order.

The above is a one bedroom, one bath loft in Manhattan's NoHo neighborhood - "NoHo" meaning "North of Houston" - a name created by the real estate industry to give an area a trendy age and thus - up the edge on the prices.

The two images here are from the luxuriously renovated D.C. townhouse.

I adore this wide expanse of floor - a renovated Savannah townhouse.

OMG Where is this place?

I found these LOVELY photos of this amazing place and I saved it to my hard drive. However, I obviously forgot to attach a note as to where I found them. I believe this place is in London (not sure) so if anyone knows please leave a comment with the credit info. Now, back to this amazing interior.....I REALLY like the PINK background in the kitchen and the openness of the living area just draws me in! Don't you just love those gigantic mirrors??
Anyhow, this place reminds me of townhouse in New York City I visited once, I almost started drooling when I walked in....luckily I didn't or the owner would have wondered....LOL Enjoy!
UPDATE: I finally got the answer, this beautiful place is in Melbourne, Australia. Thanks to the lovely Bijou Kaleidoscope blog.
