Cartas de Amor (Love Letters)

Hello everyone! I know it's Saturday & don't I normally don't post on weekend, but I've been working on this wonderful project for several weeks now. I'm exhausted!  However, being that it's February & almost Valentine's Day - the word LOVE has been constantly on my mind.

A few weeks ago, I created 'Cartas de Amor', which means "Love Letters" in Spanish. It's a collection of personal love letters from 18 bloggers, including myself. In addition, there's a whole bunch of gift ideas, delicious desserts & more! The reason I decided to do it in a magazine format was because I really felt it would look much better than in a blog post.

I hope you'll enjoy it & tweet about it, add it to Facebook & share it with others.

My guy has always been a ROMANTIC throughout our relationship & so I wanted to capture the idea of what LOVE was for other people. There's something special about a handwritten note that far outweighs any email - taking the time write on a piece of paper is refreshing. It's truly an act of love to write a love letter. In fact most of the great poets did it this way.

It is such a blessing to have all these women share LOVE letters with all of us!  Cartas De Amor
is now live!!!! Please take a look here.

Please feel free to BLOG about it & if you do, let me know! I will re-tweet your post to my followers! Thanks!

How About We?

A few weeks ago, my guy surprised me with tickets to the Broadway show "Once" which I'd really wanted to see since we both LOVED the film.
To say the least, the show was fantastic & I can't wait to see it again!

My husband told me he got the tickets through a site he'd found called HowAboutWe (for Couples). This super cute site is basically for dates...NOT to find a date but to go on one.

I mean, have you ever been clueless about where to go on DATE NIGHT with your husband or wife? Well, this site will guide you with that.

The homepage of the site isn't all that interesting, but once you get inside...WOW, what a difference! The site has a whole bunch of ideas for dates...from samplers at restaurants to pottery classes to wine tours. Talk about cool date ideas!

It is a subscription site - for $22 a month, you get some major discounts on some pretty cool stuff. Those "Once" tickets, normally $125 each - but my husband scored them for $80 for the pair on How About We!

And the site is really well done. You can "wishlist" dates as a reminder, or book them. Once you book a date, they send you an email and you provide the best days for your date...then go!

We already have our next date set up...

Courtney Love's NYC Townhouse...

Have you seen Courtney Love's NYC West Village townhouse on the Jane site?

I thought it was interesting but not my style at all. It is an insanely romantic feel to it & it's obvious she loves antique pieces. I thought the blue paint on the staircase walls was very PRETTY & calming...It's quite apparent there are no male influences in her home, it's VERY girly.

However, I found the whole vibe of the home to be a sad one... perhaps it's because I'm just not into the romantic-bohemian style..

What do you think?? you can see more of her home via Jane

A romantic turn of the century style home with a modern flair

I don't really know how to describe this home. It's featured in Skona Hem, so it features smart Scandinavian style, but it also looks like it could be a home from a fairy tale, or even a doll house. It looks like a home in a period film but at the same time features modern wallpaper, lighting, and fabrics. What do you think?

I really like the tall, thin cupboard in the back

From my library - small space living

I thought I'd share from you some of my favorite images from one of the very first interior design books I ever purchased. It's always fun to look back!

I love these wooden floors - and the fireplace!

charming - and checkout the blue floor!

It would require a lot of tidying - but I really like the glass front pantry. Check out the mix n' match table and chairs.

I liking the look of art leaning against the wall more and more. I also really like the fuchsia carpet and the retrained fireplace decor.

I love old houses - and when a renovation includes old architectural elements I don't mind "newness" so much.

A really good way to divide spaces in a studio - this solid screen acts as a wall/headboard.

A romantic treehouse retreat...

Cool new (and free) online moodboard tool

I wanted to thank Michele for bringing MyDeco to my attention. It's a very cool site with lots of goodies for all of us design enthusiasts out there. There are fun quizes, lots of eye candy, and you can make a moodboard! I also want to check out the 3D room planner they have. Here are the results of my style quiz:

I am a "homecoming queen." This makes me laugh, because I didn't even go to my prom let alone homecoming, and I'm definitely not the "princess" type. ...atleast I don't think I am....

"Nothing - budgets included - stops you from putting your all into creating a dream home. Your look is quintessentially feminine: cool, pretty colours; layered patterns and textures; and flawless attention to every detail."

Sadly, my budget definitely puts my dream home on hold...

My bedroom supposedly is, "Your bedroom benefits from a lovely feminine touch. Sleep is fundamentally important to our well being. In busy towns and cities, noise can often hamper a good night's sleep. Soft furnishings really do absorb sound, and touch is such an important sense in the bedroom, from crisp, linen sheets to wool or even sheepskin underfoot. You like to surround yourself with pretty frills and flounces in your bedroom, using a palette of beautifully muted colours to create the perfect retreat from daily stresses and strains."

This is pretty accurate! You can see my bedroom here (a few things have been changed since this post, but you get the gist).

My moodboard - I love white interiors. But recently, I've also been into richly colored accent pieces and upholsteries in luxurious fabrics. I also learned a bit about myself in the process - I like mirrored case goods!

Visit my profile here.

If you take the quiz - let me know what style you get - I'm interested to see what everyone is!

Happy Friday Interiors

These photos come to you from a wonderful blog you can find on my "blogs I *heart*" column to the right. The blog is Daisy Pink Cupcake, and it's always a treat to visit! I love how gratuitously girly and shabby chic these interiors are. Which room is your fav?

gotta love the blue on that wall

Love this kitchen and the white chairs paired with the rustic table.

The blue interior of this book shelf looks just like the Tiffany blue...might be nice for my new bedroom...

The mirror collection above the mantle is a great idea!
