I also love white pumpkins.  Thanksgiving suffers from orange and brown overload sometimes

Everything home decor is warm mixed metals these days, so simply silver, copper, or gold leafing some stones, or painting pumpkins with a glitzy paint will add a lot of glam to your decor.

Getting cozy inside when it's stormy out...

As I'm sure you all know by now, here on the East Coast we are all bracing for Sandy to hit. Schools are closed, offices are closed, and transit is at a halt. There's no where to go but to stay home, and why not make it as cozy and comfy as possible?

I'd love to know where this house is

We were without power for a whole week this summer, so we're bracing for the worst this time, and have gathered up all of our candles and filled all of our pots with water.

Nothing says cozy like marshmallows and cocoa.

And of course, park yourself in front of the fire if you are lucky enough to have one...

Welcome Autumn

We spent the weekend in NYC where it was 77 on Saturday.  Now here in MD it's 56 and honestly feels even cooler.  The cloudy sky and yellow leaves only add to the atmosphere of fall.

Autumn is here! Fireplace decorating ideas

Fall is officially here. Though I would pick warm weather over cold weather any day, I still think fall is my favorite season. I love a fireplace, a chunky knit throw, and just the general "coziness" of the season. So I thought it'd be a good time to bring on the fall decorating inspiration!

Try holding on to a little bit of nature even when it's receding outside, by decorating the mantel with display boxes of interesting branches, pods, and other natural objects.

We have a wood burning insert, a pellet stove, and an electric fireplace in our house. Between the three of them they really keep the place cozy. I have to say the electric fireplace is the easiest to keep clean - no ashes!

I like the look of bookshelves framing a fireplace. Just add a chaise and or a comfy chair and you have a reading nook.
