It's a cozy & welcoming color, exactly what we need during these holiday months.

Think of all grays, from dark to light. Using all shades of this hue is enchanting, much like an abundant snowstorm.

Design: How To Add Color

Drew here, with a how to on adding color to a room.

There are many ways to incorporate color into a room, but the most important thing to remember is:
too much color is never too much!

I've provided a few examples on how adding certain elements with color, such as lighting, pillows, furniture, artwork and rugs can really make a complete impact on brightening up a room.

Whether you have lots of lighting or minimal lighting, a bold color used in either a chandelier or floor and table lamps will add such a strong impact to a room. The picture above is a perfect example. The aqua, crystal chandelier becomes the focal point of the entire room.

A simple way to add touches of color to a room is by adding fun and playful, patterned pillows.
They are easy to mix and match and even cheap alternatives to changing up the look and feel of a room.

Feeling bold? Purchase or paint your own furniture. With a neutral background, the furniture will set the stage for a room full of color.

Wanting to spice up your space or leave a unique, lasting impression? Try hanging original works of art and paintings to your wall. There's nothing greater than a full sized painting taking color control over an entire room!

Designed Interiors Tumblr

Rugs tend to be viewed as a neutral foundation. Why not step it up and give your floors a punch of color! Don't just stop at one...add two or three, or even layer rugs to give your room an impressionable statement.

However you decide to use color in your house, be bold and gutsy!
Nothing shows more personality in a house than bright hues and a colorful layout!

Design: Designer Gillian Lefkowitz

It's Drew here, bringing you another dose of design inspiration. This time, let me introduce you to designer, Gillian Lefkowitz. After seeing this California home, I automatically want to run out and search for a modern architect to build me a house that resembles this incredible home!

I love the clean and minimalistic white walls with bold, contrasting pops of color in the decor and artwork. There is an obvious modern approach, but the touches of vintage accents give it such a charming impression.

How stunning is the gold light fixture outside of the living room and the crystal chandelier in the dining room? Gives each room just the right touch of glam, that I go crazy for.

I love how each space is so open and inviting. The curtain separating the dining room and other living area is such a great way to use as a divider or opening.

Can't you just imagine waking up to such a sunny and bright kitchen?!

What a great color choice of sage green for the cabinets.

I don't even have to tell you what an incredible wallpapered accent wall that is in one of the bedrooms. High ceilings and windows are a huge plus too!

Then of course we're left with a shady and lush backyard. Spending summers out on that porch would automatically give me the itch to plan an outside barbeque and have friends and family over for a fun evening in this perfect spot!

Thanks for living through this little dream of mine through this extraordinary, California abode!

Until next time!

Decor: Eclectic Beach House

Drew here, with an eclectic take on a beachy design scheme.
When styling a room with an eclectic vibe, mixing different patterns, textures, furniture and sometimes unusual and unique objects, always helps in creating this particular look.

To me, an unexpected twist to a traditional beach scheme is often times more intriguing, leaving quite the impression, as opposed to the usual norm.

You can also observe a more modern and less literal approach in this design palette.

3) One Kings Lane Striped Pillows

Design: Blue Pagoda

Drew here, so excited to share a short art history insight with you today.

This beautiful watercolor print, having roots in China and a recurring theme in European art styles since the 17th century, has been a popular design symbol in America throughout the decades. Most consist of peaceful gardens and whimsical imagery.

The particular blue pagoda is quite striking. It can be seen in wallpaper, bedding, art and decor. There are so many outstanding and unusual pieces of porcelain and china in these patterns that are invaluable works of art on display. From the most humble of cottages to the most royal palaces over thousands of years, these are some of our most priceless examples of design.

Have a look at the modern approach we've taken with blue pagoda today:

Design: Inspired by Stripes

Stripes are everywhere! Wouldn't you agree? They tend take a very classic approach to fashion and design.

It's Drew, giving you a little insight into the striped interior world! I feel if you use large, bold stripes in a room it can be quite impactful. Your eyes are led in a certain direction, whether the stripes be vertical or horizontal, creating a sense of energy and interest.

Vertical stripes on curtains or painted stripes on a wall make the room appear to be taller.  If you're looking to elongate a room, definitely keep this in mind. Stripes will do the trick!

Just look at these rooms and you'll see what I mean!

Imagine how many ways you can add stripes to a room!

Here's a few of my favorite pieces:

1) Maisons du Monde chair
2) Calypso St Barth Rug
5) Jonathan Adler glitter jar
6) Barneys NY Jewelry Box via Houzz
7) 1st dibs couch
