Quiet, beautiful moments...

We all could use some, to decompress, relax, and remember what it is all for.  I am tremendously grateful to all of my readers - it is you - your comments and support, that keep this going.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Lovely apartments from my future city

As some of you might already know, in August I am moving to DC because my boyfriend will be attending GWU in the fall to get his masters. While I grew up in MD, I only ever went to DC for school field trips, so I don't really know much about the different neighborhoods. So yesterday before attending Manvi from Mochatini's fabulous tabletop decorating how-to party, which I'll be sharing pics from later, I drove around and explored some recommended neighborhoods. I checked out Columbia Heights, Shaw, Foggy Bottom, Dupont, Silver Spring (MD suburb), and Capitol Hill. It's ultimately going to come down to the $$/space ratio. Anyway, enough of that - here are some fab. DC apartments...

The vintage chic split level apartment is in Cleveland Park.

Kindred Spirits Christmas Countdown on "Live Creating Yourself" - featuring Yours Truly!

I want to thank Alaina of Live Creating Yourself for being so kind as to think of me to fill out her Christmas Questionnaire.

The lovely collage she made of images for Decorology

These were the questions:
1. My home isn't decorated for the holidays until...

2. My holiday spirit soars when I hear the song...

3. If I had to be anywhere but home on the holidays, it would be...

4. (if applicable) My favorite Decorology holiday blog post was...

5. My favorite non-Decorology holiday blog post was...

6. The number one gift on my wish list this year is...

I'll share a few of my answers here but you have to go to her blog to see them all. I promise it will be worth the time as she's featured a lot of AMAZING talents in the Kindred Spirits Christmas Countdown. I promise you won't leave uninspired!

1. My home isn't decorated for the holidays until... there are string lights strewn about and candles in the window. I love the soft glow - it's instantly comforting.

3. If I had to be anywhere but home on the holidays, it would be... in Segovia with my boyfriend where he's teaching English this year!

4. My favorite Decorology holiday blog post was... this post - "Happy Holiday pics" - from last year.

Classic country or Modern country? Which are you?

I like country style - but country style can encompass sooooo many looks. I thought I'd see which way you guys leaned - "traditional" country, or "modern" country.

Lets start with classic country:

Love this organized but full-of-charm home office.

Gorgeous - and the chicken wire screens are great too.

...or do you like a more contemporary country?

This bedroom is so stunning - and the monochromatic palette keeps the damask from being too busy for a bedroom

Amy Butler's workspace!

Which do you prefer?

Luxurious interiors!

A couple of weeks ago I was introduced to NY interior designer Marlaina Teich and Canadian design duo Corea Sotropa. Marlaina has been working on the Mansions and Millionaires Designer Showhouse in NY, and Corea Sotropa have been working in Calgary.

Marlaina's chic and glamorous Virginia Wolfe inspired "room of one's own."

I love the Corea Sotropa renovation above - the kitchen is a nice blend of elegant, with a spritz of farm house.

An adorable peaceful playroom from Corea Sotropa.

Thanks Maggie!
